Obituary for
Clara L. Olson
Clara Laverne Olson, 84, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at her home in Ignacio, Colo.
A funeral service will be Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Frank Kihn of First Baptist Church of Ignacio will be officiating. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango. Visitation will be held at Hood Mortuary Chapel on Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Olson was born August 8, 1927, in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of William and Vennie (Fraze) Huber. Clara grew up and attended schools in Louisville. She met her future husband, Robert Olson, at a USO while he was serving in the military. They were married and raised their family while in Louisville and then moved out to Colorado after their retirement. They began construction work on their home in Ignacio and it was completed in 1987. Clara was a prideful homemaker and took great care of the family home. She liked to garden and was very active with her church, First Baptist of Ignacio. “She was a very wonderful and caring person and will be greatly missed,” recall her family.
She is survived by Robert Olson (husband) of Ignacio, Colo., Rick & Gail Olson (son and daughter-in-law) of Evansville, Ind., Roger & Jessie Olson (son and daughter-in-law) of Louisville, Ky., grandchildren; Drew Olson, Lauren Olson, Caroline Olson and Billy Garcia, great-grandchildren; Kyle & Leah Olson, James Huber (brother) of Louisville, Ky., and numerous other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Martha Olson and one brother, William.
