Elizabeth Nobman

Elizabeth R. Nobman, born August 5, 1913, in Oyster Bay, N.Y., passed away at the age of 98, Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Durango, Colo. She was a lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, N.Y., until she moved to Durango in 1993.

After graduating from Oyster Bay High School, Elizabeth worked for the Doubleday Publishing Company until her marriage to Walter R. Nobman in 1938. After she was married, she was mostly a homemaker, but pursued several part time jobs, including being a Welcome Wagon Hostess and a sales lady for Country Lady in Oyster Bay. Elizabeth also occasionally helped out in the family hardware store, Nobman's Hardware in Oyster Bay.

Elizabeth is remembered for her voice, and she sang in the Christ Church Choir in Oyster Bay for more than 20 years.

She was preceded in death by Walter, her husband of 68 years, in 2006. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Richard Nobman, and his wife, Annemarie of Durango; grandson, Derrick Nobman, and his wife, Elizabeth of Oyster Bay; great-grandson Reis of Oyster Bay, and granddaughter Kirsten A. Nobman of New York City.

Cremation has occurred, and a memorial service will be held in Oyster Bay, N.Y., later this year.
