Durango

Nita was born on September 9, 1932, to the late John and Mable Cline. She and her siblings were raised in Littleton Colorado where she graduated from High School in 1949. Nita was a Soda Jerk at a Drug store on South Broadway in Denver in High School. Nita Enlisted in the US Army in November 1950 and achieved the rank of Sargent First Class. Nita gained clerical skills in her service to the country and after her honorable discharge in 1954.

Back into civilian life, Nita became the Executive Secretary to President and Chairman of the Board of the 1st National Bank of Englewood. In 1964, Nita went to work for the City and County of Denver in various departments. It was in 1966 she had a desire to become a court reporter. After gaining a Diploma from Mile High Reporting College in 1967, she started on that path. She worked in various courts including the Federal District Court in Denver and other Denver courts.

Eventually she settled into a court reporter position in the Jefferson County District Courts, moving to Morrison. She Married John Sarver in 1971 whom passed away just five years later. Nita is survived by many cousins, mostly in the Denver area, Gail and Jerry, their daughters Aimee and Jennifer and her husband David and her third cousins Austin, Cody, and Dillon. Nita’s other cousin’s family includes Erika with her children Dee and Dirk. Nita “adopted” her first husbands’ mother after his passing, Vera Taylor. Nita took care of Vera until her passing in 1999.

In 1987, Nita married Aubrey Lee Casto and they resided in Morrison Colorado until they both retired and Moved to Delta Colorado in 1994. In Delta they started a new family with horses, cows, Alpacas, and cats. They became members of clubs, organizations, civic groups, and The Delta Methodist Church. Nita’s charitable work with the Easter Star #40 was appreciated by the Delta community. Her love of golf had her playing on the Delta Dove Golf Team which traveled around the southwest. Nita was a very skilled angler and tied her own flies that she shared with Aubrey and friends.

As a loving person she gained a new family with Aubrey’s four children while living in Delta. Nita and Aubrey moved from Delta in June 2019 to Montrose assisted living facility as her and Aubrey’s health required skilled care. After her husband Aubrey passed away in October 2021. Nita’s new family, Aubrey’s son Dennis and wife Debbie and daughter Wendy, stepped up to assure Nita was never alone with the loss of her best friend. Wendy passed just months after her father. Her new family included Nita in every holiday gathering, birthday party, wedding and of course, trips to the Casinos. Though she was confined to bed and wheelchair, a couple of Nitas new grandchildren were with her on Christmas 2023 as she could not make the trip to the family Christmas in Denver as she had done in the past. Nita passed away in a Skilled Nursing Home in Durango on February 8th while recovering from surgery on her leg.

The entire family and new family express thanks to; the Masonic Lodge of Delta, The Eastern Star, the Delta Doves, the First United Methodist Church of Delta, other Delta civic groups, her may friends gained over 91 years and her best friend and love, Aubrey.
