Rebecca Myers

May 21, 1943 — August 20, 2021

Becky was born in Durango on May 21, 1943, to Rachel and Charles Probst. Becky was raised in Durango and Silverton, graduating Durango High School in 1961 and leaving Durango shortly after, to move to California as her first husband Joe Aber was in the Navy. While in California Becky gave birth to her first son Edward J. Aber, and two years later her daughter Penny D. Aber was born in Durango. As a single mother Becky showed her resilience, fight and strength as she was the sole provider for her two kids, working at JC Penny's and Burns Bank to provide them with the best that she could. Becky and her kids moved around to several places, not having a lot, but always having each other, and always ending up in Durango. In 1976 Becky reconnected and in 1977 married a younger classmate from high school days, Gordon Myers, Gordon having a daughter from a previous marriage, Kirshawn Myers. Together Gordon and Becky lived a life of fun and adventure with many camping trips to the lake and spontaneous road trips, throwing left over Thanksgiving dinner in a cooler and taking off to destinations anywhere. Gordon would become the man that would be known as Dad to Ed and Pen as well as Dad to the next generation of children in their lives, Drew and Brandon. Drew Myers born in 1979 and Brandon Myers in 1981. Becky was able to take this time in her life to focus on raising children. Volunteering at school functions, organizing family events, and taking care of everyone, showed the care and passion Becky had for her family. Becky never stopped raising kids. Becky was instrumental in the lives of her grandkids Corey and Jordan, the sons of Penny and Phil Herring. Corey and Jordan would spend summers at the Myers family home for years. Becky's third Grandson, Sean Myers grew up in the family home taking many camping and road trips with his grandparents. Becky was once again instrumental in the raising of Sean, teaching kindness, compassion and being the most loving grandmother anyone could hope for.

Becky lived and had a full life. She loved dancing all night, spinning creative stories most often to tease her kids with, gardening, taking care of her home, and most of all her family. She was a mother, grandmother, best friend, and an inspiration to those she leaves behind. Together Becky and Gordon raised 5 kids and 3 Grandchildren. Their partnership and love in each other have influenced family and friends alike. Becky and Gordon created many lifelong friendships, all of whom are loved.

Becky and Gordon together, raised a family, in a home. As simple as that sounds, they were excellent at it.
Becky is preceded in death by her husband Gordon Myers and their first grandson Corey Herring. Becky and Gordon leave behind grandchildren Jordan Herring and Sean Myers, who love and will miss her dearly.
Becky's children will miss her; Ed Aber, Penny Herring, Krishawn, Drew and Brandon Myers.
