Georgine Estella Mounts of Durango passed away July 5th, 2015 at home. She was 82.
Georgine was born November 10th, 1932 in Enid, OK, to Walter and Clara Driever. She moved to Durango in 1947 when her parents purchased and began to operate Clover Rich Dairy. She graduated from Durango High School in 1950 and attended Fort Lewis College at the old campus in Hesperus, for 2 years. Georgine married Marion "Pinky" Mounts in 1953. Due to Pinky's military service, she traveled with him to many of his duty stations while raising their family. Georgine’s greatest joy was having a loving, nurturing home for her family. Later, she worked at the Durango Herald, for the Federal Government as a census worker, and at Fort Lewis College in Admissions.
Georgine was a softball enthusiast and avid participant in local leagues. She was a troop leader in Boy and Girl Scouting programs for all of her 8 children for over 25 years. She encouraged and worked with them to achieve the ranks of Eagle Scout, First Class and Gold Award. She was able to perform home repair and "handy" tasks throughout her life and loved working in her flower gardens. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Richard, Claudia Tillman, Cynthia Gilbert, Michael, Ronnie, Geriann Campbell, Doug and Dave; Sisters: Dee Wampner and Sharon Driever; 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pinky, parents, one grandchild Kyle Gilbert, and brother Buddy Driever.
Visitation will take place at Hood Mortuary, Friday, July 10, 2015 from noon to 6:00pm. A service will be Saturday at 10:30am, at The River Church, 860 Plymouth Drive, Durango, CO. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
