Patricia Janet Morris, 79, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Durango, Colorado. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, in Durango.
Pat was born April 2, 1935 in Fruita, Colorado, the daughter of Dave and Maude McCluskey. She grew up in Durango and Grand Junction, Colo. and graduated from Durango High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Don Morris on February 20, 1954 in Durango. They lived in Durango and Cortez, Colo. Pat worked for the Cortez School District and at the Cortez courthouse; in Durango, she worked for First National Bank, School District 9-R, the First United Methodist Church, The fabric store in Town Plaza.
Pat was an avid and talented seamstress – she sewed clothing for family members, wedding and prom dresses, and entered her work for multiple awards in local fairs. Pat was an active an committed member of the First United Methodist Church where she crafted children’s choir robes, worked on alter flowers, served on the board of trustees, was a member of the founding board of the Methodist Thrift Store, a wedding coordinator, and much more. Countless hours were spent in the service of God and her community through the church and at the First Methodist Thrift Store.
Pat is survived by her children: Dianne Edwards (Rick) of Shiprock, New Mexico, Gary Morris of Durango, Sheryl Fisher (Joe) of Grand Junction, Colo., and Keith Morris of Modesto, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren (to whom she was a wonderful grandma!), and a large extended church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, a brother Bob McCluskey, and her parents.
