Obituary for
Robert D. Miller
Robert D. Miller, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 in his home in Durango, Colo. Mr. Miller was born November 18, 1929 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Logan and Fern Miller. Robert served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Tohill in December 21, 1957. They had four children: Gloria, Jerry, Roberta and RoxAnne. They moved to Durango, February 1968 to manage and agents for the Continental Trailways Bus System. Robert had a strong love for Christ and never met a stranger and loved to talk to people. He enjoyed family outings and attending his grandson’s sporting events. Robert was a big fan of the steam engine of the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. He was involved in the Rotary Club and very busy with the community. Mr. Miller is preceded in death by parents, Logan and Fern Miller, grandson, Brett Mortimer and daughter-in-law, Barbie Fleener. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Miller, sister, Doramae Bachuus of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Children, Gloria Schryver of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma., Jerry Fleener, of Bayfield, Colo., Roberta “Bert” Clements of Durango, RoxAnne Beans, of Durango. Eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous extended family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, or Manna Soup Kitchen, PO Box 1196, Durango, CO 81302.A memorial service will be held 10:00am, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Church of Christ, 2100 West Third Ave., Durango, Colo. Pastor Guy Orbison will be officiating.
