Obituary for
Charles Norman "Chuck" Midkiff
Charles “Chuck” Norman Midkiff passed peacefully in hospice at Mercy Regional Medical Center at the age of 76 on April 6, 2014.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 46 years, Karen Midkiff, Son Chad, Daughter-in-law, Chevon and Granddaughters, Ashlyn and Cienna; his son, Kevin Lambing, wife Sheliea, grandson, Noah, and granddaughter, Lydia; a sister, Rita Seamans and his chair side companion Labradoodle, “Chaco”.
Chuck’s love for the western culture brought him and his family to Durango in 1979 where he worked as a manufacture’s representative for multiple western saddle, tack and boot companies. In his earlier years, Chuck enjoyed team roping and rodeo. That passion led him and other dedicated families to achieve the first Junior 4-H Team State Championship from La Plata County at the Colorado State Fair. That achievement was surpassed by his son receiving first place in Western Pleasure at the Land of Enchantment Horse Show, the second largest horse show in the U.S. Chuck was also an avid golfer and a true Dallas Cowboys fan. Chuck retired in 2004, as a small business owner in Durango.
The family will be having a small, private service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mercy Health Foundation, 1010 Three springs Blvd., Durango, Colorado 81301, for the new Hospice Residence. Our Family’s personal experience confirms the importance of this endeavor for the “heart” of our community.
