Michael Anthony Sheehan

March 14, 1961 — February 3, 2025

Durango, Colorado

Mike died at his home February 3rd 2025 surrounded by the love and support of his family and hospice. He was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer in December.
Mike Sheehan was a true Renaissance Man! Born and raised in Chicago, Mike made his way west to the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s. This is where he met and fell in love with his life partner Teresa. This is also where he fell in love with the water, learning to windsurf and sail. The sky also called, so he went ahead and obtained his pilot's license. Eventually the mountains called too. To the Southwest Mike and Teresa headed. Upon relocating to Durango in 1990, his love of music led him to become a partner in The Record Man music store. Through The Record Man he was part of the DSCPA (Durango Society of Culture and Performing Arts) which brought artists from around the country to Durango. It also brought him great joy watching his son Conor perform in the theaters of Durango High School, University of Northern Colorado, and Durango's Merely Players. Mike enjoyed many family rafting trips on the San Juan River as well as skiing at Purgatory. He was a world traveler and was able to travel to Japan this past June. He loved baseball and being from Chicago and San Francisco, he was a die-hard Cubs and Giants fan. For the last 32 years, he had his dream job at Game Winner Sports where he was surrounded by all things baseball. Mike was an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds at Hillcrest and Dalton Ranch golf courses. Of all his pursuits his most admirable was his advocacy for individuals with disabilities and their families. He was a devoted father to his daughter Grace. Through all these activities Mike made many lifelong friends. He will live on through the music we listen to, the food we eat, the books we read, the shows we watch, the places we travel, the golf courses we play, and the jokes we laugh at. He left the world better than he found it.

Mike is survived by his wife, Teresa Sheehan; son, Conor; and daughter, Grace, siblings; Pam, Chris and Carolyn; and many nieces and nephews.
