Michael Paul Morrissey (Mike) passed away on October 17, 2024, in Durango, Colorado. Born to Jeff and Nikki Morrissey on December 29, 1967, he was a lifelong resident of Durango and a graduate of Durango High School and Fort Lewis College.

Mike dedicated his life to the service of others, working as a special education teacher and a youth wrestling coach. His commitment to enriching the lives of young people left a lasting impact across the state of Colorado.

Known for his ability to befriend anyone, Mike's warmth was unmistakable. He had a contagious passion for the outdoors, which he expressed through skiing in the winters and mountain biking in the summers. These activities not only illustrated his love for adventure, but also his desire to live life to the fullest with those he loved most.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Morrissey, and is survived by his mother, Nikki Morrissey; daughter, Natalie (Drew) Manning; son, Luke Morrissey; brother, Patrick (Dena) Morrissey; and sister, Kristi (Ken) Sanchez. His life was a testament to the power of community and connection, leaving an enduring mark on everyone he met.

An intimate memorial service was held to honor Mike’s life on Friday, October 25, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society.
