Larry McKee

Larry Edmund McKee, 62, died Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, Colorado. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Services will be held informally at the family residence in Bayfield, Colo.

Larry was born February 10, 1949 in Cypress, California. He was the son of Robert and Emma McKee spending most of his adolescence and attending school in the Cypress area.

He traveled wherever work would take him from picking apples in Washington State; to building bridges in Wyoming; to high end construction in Arizona. He moved to Bayfield in 2004 to live on the property he owned. “He enjoyed life and cherished his family and friends. With the kindest heart, he would give the shirt off his back and the last dime he had if someone was in need,” recalls his family. An artist, musician and master carpenter, he also loved the mountains, snow skiing, the ocean, books, blues music, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He is survived by his children: Clayton, Keith, Emma, Vincent, and Megan, as well as his brother Robert, nieces, nephews and nine grandchildren.
