Obituary for
Ruby L. McCoy
Ruby Lenore Tangreen McCoy passed away on April 2, 2012, at her home near Bayfield surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was 79.
She was born in Moab, Utah, on September 6, 1932, to Clarence and Ruby Tangreen. She graduated from Grand County High School in 1950. She met her husband, Bob McCoy, at Redd Ranches, at La Sal, Utah, in 1950 while helping her mother in the cook house where he was a cowboy. They were married on June 29, 1950, and made their home on the ranch outside Bayfield, where they raised six children and continued to live.
Lenore worked hard as a homemaker, teaching her children to be hard workers with skills such as gardening, canning, baking. She also shared her many artistic talents, such as painting, ceramics and numerous crafts. She was gifted in all forms of handwork -- crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren wear her beautiful garments with pride. Later in life she made many beautiful porcelain dolls, handcrafted from beginning to end, and dressed in intricate detail. She was happy to share them with visitors or to donate to those in need.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Bob McCoy, of Bayfield, daughter Pat McCoy of Hereford, Texas, daughter Evelyn Risen of Bayfield, son Bobby McCoy of Bayfield, daughter Sue (Jaye) Decker and of La Plata, N.M.; son Jim (Penny) McCoy of Craig, Colo., daughter Julie Baird (Denny Ridgeway) of Bayfield; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 1690 160 B, Bayfield, Colo. Burial will occur at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
