Justin McCoy

d. May 25, 2022

Justin McCoy passed of natural causes May 25, 2022 on his way to work. Justin was born to Jerry and Roxine McCoy on January 24, 1978 in Durango, Colorado.
From the time Justin’s boots hit the ground he was a cowboy through and through. He could rope the crown of his grandpa’s hat before he could tie his own shoes. He spent his entire life living the legacy of the McCoy ranch; where he has planted his roots and raised his own family. He spent countless hours checking on cows, breaking horses, and building fence before school and after baseball. Justin graduated from Ignacio High School in 1996, where he continued operating equipment as he had throughout school.
Justin hit the rodeo road riding bulls, he would never admit to anything other than being a roughy, although we all know he was a top-notch horseman and roper. In 2002, Justin married the love of his life, Kelly; where they started a beautiful family in 2005.
When Keaton came along Justin took a step back from riding bulls, even though he had filled his permit and was headed to the big shows. He traded his bull rope and boots for cleats and a jersey to fight bulls alongside his best friend Jube. Justin never settled for being anything less than the best and always strived to improve.
With support and encouragement from his supervisors, he furthered his career on the pipeline as an inspector. This took his family on all new adventures traveling from one end of the country to the other. They saw the sights and made irreplaceable memories. Justin was a die- hard pipeliner and was proud to be a part of the oil field family. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being on the lake, and cooking for all of his friends and family.
Justin’s family was his pride and joy, he loved his wife, of 20 years, more than any man could love a woman, he was a real-life superhero to his kids, and instilled a love of the Lord in his family.
Justin is preceded in death by his grandparents Orville and Cipriana McCoy and Rockey Robbins and Betty Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly; children, Jasper (Nikki), Trinity (Michael), Keaton, Cayle, Mattie Jo; grandson, Remington; his father Jerry and mother Roxine, sister Trish, brothers, Rockey, Troy, Travis (Kandi), and God-given brother Jube (Berklee). Justin had numerous nieces and nephews and many, many kids that he claimed as his own.
Justin was a person that knew no stranger and always had an open door and open arms. He was an athlete, a coach, and a mentor. His family was his whole world and if you were fortunate enough to be in his life you were never just a friend, you were family. Justin lived life to the fullest, never missed an opportunity to raise a toast, crack a joke, or pull a prank… you better sleep with one eye open.
