Catherine Sophia "Cat" McClure
Catherine Sophia “Cat” McClure, 56, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at home in Durango, Colorado. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the American Legion in Durango.
Cat was born July 16, 1958 in Durango, Colorado, the daughter of Anita Martinez. She grew up in Roy, Utah, and graduated from Roy High School. She lived in Roy, Oklahoma, the east coast, Washington D.C. and finally settled back in Durango. Cat attended Fort Lewis College in the Art department.
Mrs. McClure worked for Mercy Medical Center, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe for 13 years, and other places in and around Durango.
Cat began needlework while sick with cancer and had crafted many elaborate creations. She was a gifted artist and painter. Cat also assisted with the Snowdown Brazier Show which benefited breast cancer.
She is survived by her Grandmother,Sophie Speer of Cortez, Colo., her husband Mathew McClure of Durango, her mother, Anita Martinez of Montrose, Colo., Children: Adam Carver of Roy, Utah, Anthony Rodriguez of Sioux Falls, S.D., Lacey Peterson of Las Vegas, Nev., Sara Rosandic of Durango, Scot McClure of Carlsbad, Calif., Luke McClure of Vista, Calif., and Kyla Rogers of Denver, Colo.; 1 brother, 3 sisters, and 6 grandchildren.
