Jean McClanahan

Margaret Jean Potter McClanahan passed away at 97 years old on October 3, 2021. She was born in Ignacio, CO on May 2, 1924 and lived in Ignacio for most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce ‘Butch’ McClanahan and her son Dale. She leaves behind her three children: Judy Bundy, Cindy Swanemyr and Greg McClanahan. Her family tree is also filled with 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. While this provides some data about her accomplishments in life, kindness, generosity commitment to her family and compassion are just a few of the hallmarks that she will be remembered for. Jean spent her life going about doing good for others. Butch and Jean owned the Ignacio Shur Value Grocery store where their commitment to the Ignacio community was felt for many many years. They loved serving the community and that love was reciprocated by the community. This was evidenced by the community naming a community room in the library after than name and in their honor. She will be missed by all who knew her and were touched by her graciousness. Donations in honor of Jean can be made to the Ignacio Public Library.
