Robert Wayne Mazur died on Monday, Nov. 30, 2021. He was 54.
Robert was born on Aug. 20, 1967, in Arcadia, California to Sue and Doug Mazur. He grew up in Big Bear, California and Henderson, Nevada, graduating from Basic High School in Henderson in 1985.
He married his wife, Melanie Brubaker, on Oct. 15, 1994 in Las Vegas, and they were married for 27 years. After marrying, they moved to Wasilla, Alaska, then moved to Bayfield in 1999. They had two sons, Sloan and Lance.
Robert worked in the paint and glass industries all of his life. In 2015, he opened his own shop in Bayfield, See-Through Glass. He and his wife owned the Pine River Times in Bayfield from 2002 to 2015.
He coached his two sons in flag football and youth baseball. He later enjoyed watching Sloan compete in track and cross-country, while Lance plays baseball, football and basketball. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved catching a big one and bringing home nice filets and a good story. He attended the Santa Fe Opera every summer.
He was a past president of the Bayfield Lions Club, and for many years served as one of the club Santas, visiting homes of local children on Christmas Eve.
He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. He recently started work at Bayfield Parks and Recreation, serving as the youth sports coordinator.
Robert is survived by his wife and sons; his mother, Sue Mazur of Las Vegas; two brothers and their wives, Jeff and Denise Mazur of Las Vegas and Mike and Wendy Mazur of Henderson; nieces Marisa, Morgan and Samantha; one nephew, Michael Jr.; and a great-niece and great-nephew. He also is survived by his aunt, Sherri O’Reilly of Phoenix, and an uncle, John Marshall of Galway, Ireland.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6 at Calvary Presbyterian Church in downtown Bayfield. A reception will follow next door at the Bayfield Lions Club Hall.
