Obituary for Ronald L. Maxwell

Ronald L. Maxwell died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in Mancos, Colo. He was 73. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango.

Mr. Maxwell was born July 13, 1939, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, the son of Anna Lee and William Dvorak. He attended school in Durango, and he graduated from Durango High School in 1957. He entered into the Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and he served as a paratrooper and Green Beret for three years. He later moved to Grants, N.M., and worked in the uranium mines until 1972. In the late 1970s he moved to the Durango area. He operated Ron's Electric from the 1970s through the 1990s. After he retired, he spent his time scroll sawing, gardening and canning (especially green beans). He followed the Denver Broncos and enjoyed hunting and fishing in New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, brother, Stanley Maxwell, and his parents. He is survived by son Ronnie (Laurie) Maxwell of Durango, grandchildren Jacob & wife Jackie Maxwell, Tyler Maxwell, and Cody Dennison, and great-grandchildren Jaxon Maxwell, and Kason and Sadie Dennison and other family members.
