Mary Fern Martinez

Mary Fern Martinez, 87, of Bayfield, Colorado passed away on December 9, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Fern was born in Tiffany, Colorado to Lupita Olguin.

After attending school, Fern married Jose Ben Martinez on November 6, 1954. Together they raised four children in Bayfield. Fern had a passion for gardening, she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. Fern was a homemaker, a baker, and a clerk at the Pine River Library. Fern loved the Broncos, the Rockies, and the Nuggets! She was a huge sports fan. She was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew Parish of Bayfield.

Fern is survived by her three children, Ross (Linda), Isidore (Cathy), Beverly (Larry); her brother, Orris Olguin;  her three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several step grand-children, and one step great-grandson.

Fern is preceded by her husband, Ben; her son, Alex; her mother, Lupita; and five brothers.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice, nurse Camy Kinney, and niece Janie Herrera for all the care they provided.

Services for Fern will be at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Ignacio, Colorado on Friday, December 16, 2022. A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Tiffany Cemetery after services with a reception to follow at the Sky Ute Casino.
