Mary Jane Klein (Haverstraw), age 90, died of Septicemia on May 3, 2023, in Durango, CO. She left this life to her eternal home with the sun shining on her face reminding us of the scripture in Numbers 6:24-26- “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ She passed into paradise surrounded by family.

Mary is survived by her son, Lee Williamson, of Bayfield, CO; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Williamson, of Bayfield, CO; her grandson, Corey L Williamson and his wife Wynonna Williamson, of Bayfield, CO; and her granddaughter, Shelby P Williamson of Denver, CO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Klein; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Williamson;  father, Theodore A. Haverstraw; mother, Helen J. Haverstraw; and sister, Sarah Ann Haverstraw.

Mary was born on August 6, 1932 in Hamlin, West Virginia, to parents Theodore A Haverstraw and Helen J Haverstraw. She graduated from St. Marys High School in 1950. She was an “A” student, played basketball and was a member of the Marching Band where she played the clarinet. She moved to Southern California in 1965 where she worked in the photo industry then as an Administrative Assistant at Brethren Christian High School in Paramount, CA. She retired with along her husband, Dean Klein, in 1985 and moved to Bayfield, CO, where they built their home and lived together for many years enjoying “Country Life”.

She was an active member in her Church, 1st Baptist Church of Ignacio, and was a follower of Jesus Christ, her Savior, for many years.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a very independent person who loved the LORD, loved cats, loved watching the cooking channels and cooking.

A graveside funeral is scheduled for May 12, 2023, at the Pine River Cemetery at 1:30 PM with a reception to follow at the 1st Baptist Church of Ignacio. Pastor Frank Kihn will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary’s life. Donations can be sent to Operation Christmas Child, Donate to Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org).
