Mary Ann Newton Weaver was born on November 18, 1950 to Jane Drake-Newton and Tom B. Newton in La Boca, Colorado. She was the youngest of 8 siblings. Mary Ann graduated Ignacio High School in 1969. After graduation she attended the M.T.I. business college in California. She also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in Albuquerque, NM. After her education, she returned to Ignacio, where she met her husband, Wilford Weaver, Sr. and started a family. Mary Ann was a member of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and worked for her Tribe until she retired. It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary Ann held many titles, but above all she was a fun-loving spirit. She often shared stories of her younger self and other family members and all the good times they shared. She was a loving grandmother with a joking spirit. She often joked with her grandsons as they did with her. She loved being outdoors and summer gardening, especially attending to her flowers. She loved lavender and her hollyhocks. She also loved her animals.
Mary Ann Newton Weaver is survived by: her husband Wilford Weaver, Sr.; daughter Misha Newton Weaver; son-in-law Edward R. Esparza, Jr.; son Wilford Weaver, Jr.; daughter Lisa Mae Weaver; grandchildren: Tristan Wolf Rael, Arrow Rael and Quentin Rael; sister Louis Newton; niece Mary Christine Carroll and brother Jimmy Newton, Sr. She was preceded in death by Jimmy Newton, Jr.
