Obituary for
Glen P. Marx
Lifetime Hesperus resident Glen Peter Marx died from cancer Friday, August 3, 2012, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Marx was diagnosed with cancer of the liver on August 6, 2011.
Glen was born in Durango Colorado on April 22, 1986, to Pete and Susan Marx. In his younger years he enjoyed singing, preaching to his family and pretending to drive cars. Mr. Marx loved protecting and teasing his younger siblings, especially sisters when it came to boyfriends and his schoolmates from bullies.
After graduating from Durango high school in 2004, he went on to become a tire technician at Peerless Tyre Co. and a mechanic at Vandegrift Diesel to support his family. Becoming a mechanic was one Mr. Marx’s passions and helped him to build his many vehicles for speed and power which he continued to do up until his death. He loved being with his family and cruising around the four corners as fast as possible. When he wasn’t driving in real life he was racing in his many video games. He was an avid camper and he also enjoyed four wheeling, mud bogging and hunting. He was a huge fan of body building and dreamed of getting back into it someday.
Glen is survived by his parents, Pete and Susan Marx of Hesperus, Colo., siblings Amy Foster of Wichita Falls, Texas, Amanda Marx of Durango, Rose Marx of Durango, brother Leo Marx of Durango, and half-brother Matt Marx of Grand Junction, Colo.
“Glen was the best big brother any one could ask for, he was much loved and he will be greatly missed, he was my hero, said Mrs. Foster. “He loved helping people any chance he could and prayed for other cancer patients every night, he was always worried about everyone but himself.”
A funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s in Farmington, N.M., at 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012. A Christian burial will follow in Spencer, Neb., at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012.
A memorial contribution may be made to the Glen Marx Fund at the First National Bank of Durango for funeral expenses. The remaining balance of the fund will be donated to a cancer charity in Durango.
