Lucas J. Martinez was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Trujillo, Colo., to Corina and Porfirio Martinez. Lucas joined his parents and older sister, Lucille Lynch, on Jan. 1. Lucas is survived by his daughter Lisa (Jeff), grandson Samuel, daughter Lori, granddaughter Lily, 7 siblings, Mary (Leo), Sevedeo (Maryann), Rafelita, Leo (Jennie), Frank (Lorraine), Patricia (Gerald), and his baby sister Annette (Leonard); countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As a veteran and active member of the Catholic family in Pagosa Springs, the viewing and rosary will be held in his honor at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Church. As a veteran, Lucas will be interred at the Trujillo Cemetery with military honors following the mass. All guests are invited following the burial to join the family for a meal at the Parish Hall on Lewis Street.
