Filadelfio Eliseo (Phil Lee) Martinez passed away at his home in Bayfield on August 15, 2016.
He was born on June 3, 1936 to Eliseo Martinez and Mary Gurule Martinez in Arboles, CO.
Phil had 3 children from previous marriages.
In 1992, he married Sherry Williamson in Durango.
Phil lived in the Pagosa and Bayfield area most of his life. He was a long haul truck driver who loved life on the road.
He enjoyed his tractor and snow plow. After even the lightest snow, he would love plowing for all his neighbors. He also enjoyed working on his cars, including accessorizing them to the hilt. In later years, he became a Bronco fan and loved old western movies. He also enjoyed visiting his extended family and close friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his son Charles, his sister Cleo, and an infant brother and sister.
He is survived by his wife Sherry; daughters: Tina and Angela (Gordon); grandchildren: Craig (Hannah); Derek and Lillie Charis; Elena and Charles Jr.; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters: Doreen, Rose, and Mary, and many extended family members.
Visitation will be held at Hood Mortuary on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10a.m. – 2p.m.
Memorial services will be at Ignacio Community Church at ELHI, 115 Ute Street on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11a.m.
