Obituary for
Celina M. Marquez
Celina M. Marquez died Sunday, January 15, 2012, in Durango, Colo. She was 95.
Mrs. Marquez was born August 25, 1916, in Durango, Colo., the daughter of Pablo and Feliciana Roybal. She was the fifth of twelve children. She married Jose Patricio Marquez, with whom she had five sons.
Celina lived most of her life in Durango. During World War II her husband worked in the coal mines and the couple lived in Dragerton, Utah, and also in Salt Lake City and Denver.
“She was a wonderful mother, and grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother,” her family says, “She was well loved by all of her family and she will be missed by all who knew her.”
She is preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters, her husband Pat, son Charlie and grandson Randy Lee Marquez. She is survived by sons Louis of Salt Lake City; Eddie of Walnut Creek, Calif.; Ernie of Littleton, Colo.; and Roger of Bloomfield, N.M.; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at Hood Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Durango. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Sacred Heart. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango.
