Obituary for Bonnie Luhmann

Nettie Bonita “Bonnie” Luhmann, 81, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Durango, Colo. A memorial service and scattering of cremated remains will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Opal Lake near Pagosa Springs.

Mrs. Luhmann was born June 15, 1930, in Carthage, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Maude Camidge. Bonnie grew up in Carthage and attended school there as well. She moved her family to Long Island, N.Y., where they made their home and she worked to support the family. She lived in Florida for a short time before settling in Durango to be near her son and his family. One thing Bonnie was very proud of was her time in New York owning and operating a Hot Dog Cart.

Bonnie was a very faithful Christian and was very involved at Durango Christian Church. She was an old time believer in faith, children and church. She also enjoyed the outdoors and was an animal lover.

Mrs. Luhmann held many jobs but her pride was creating a loving environment for her family as a mother and homemaker.

She is survived by: Diedrich "Deke" Luhmann (son) of Oxford, Colo.; Lynnette Hughes (daughter) of Patchouge, N.Y.; Tom Luhmann and Henry Luhmann (sons) of Long Island, N.Y.; grandchildren: Sean Burgoyne, Kimberly Von Thaden, Jessica and Melissa Luhmann and Tom and Jon Luhmann, all of Long Island, N.Y.; and Henry Luhmann (her former spouse) of Stuart, Fla.
