Obituary for Victor N. Lucero

Bayfield resident Victor N. Lucero died at his home Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the age of 91.

Victor was born December 25, 1919, in Bayfield, Colo., son of Phillip and Celestina Lucero. He spent his entire life in Bayfield. He served in the Army during World War II. His family says that he was a hard worker who loved caring for his farm and spending time with his family. “He will continue to live on in the hearts, minds and memories of all who knew him,” states his family.

He was preceded in death by Martha Lucero, his wife of 63 years. He is survived by his children Loyola Valdez of Hawthorne, Nev.; Lesida Archuleta of Ignacio; Louise Sickler of Salt Lake City; Carol Carmona of Bayfield; Del Lucero of Denver; Steve Lucero of Grand Junction; and Donnie Lucero of Bayfield; 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield. Earl Caudill will be officiating. Military honors will be given by the V.F.W. Post #4031. A rosary was recited at Hood Mortuary Chapel on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 7 p.m.
