Robert Salvador Lucero, 62, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. A rosary will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. also at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Ignacio West Cemetery.
Mr. Lucero was born August 18, 1952 in Durango, Colorado, the son of Salbador and Stella Lucero. He grew up and graduated school in Ignacio in 1970. He was drafted into the Army on August 5, 1971, and was later honorably discharged. Robert made his life in the Ignacio community as a Heavy Equipment operator – he was talented in this trade with over 30 years of experience for many different construction companies. In addition to Ignacio, he lived in Carbondale and Durango.
He was a gifted beadwork crafter. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren; he never missed a program or event they were involved in. They were his world.
He is survived by his mother: Stella Lucero of Bloomfield, N.M.; Children: Myron Lucero, R.C. Lucero (Mary Lee), and Lynette Lucero (David Silva); Siblings: Edward Lucero, Margaret Herrera, Adelina Padilla, and Kathy Lucero; 10 grandchildren; his girlfriend Martha Rico; former spouse: Debra Lucero, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, and two sisters.
