Charles Lemmon

December 15, 1914 — September 11, 2017

Charles Arthur "Art" Lemmon passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at his home. He was 102 years old.

Art was born December 15, 1914, to Arthur Earl and Harriett Irene Lemmon in Durango, Colorado. Art attended Durango Schools, graduated from DHS and Attended Fort Lewis College for 2 years. He was inducted into active service with the National Guard in February of 1941. He served overseas with the Army 558 Field Artillery Battalion.

Upon his Honorable Discharge he obtained an accounting degree and worked at Gates Rubber in the accounting department; he worked there long enough to realize that a sedentary job was not for him. He began working at the post office in 1952 and retired Dec. 31, 1976. Art was married to Lucille (Kleckner) in 1977.

Art was active in the Masonic Lodge (AF and AM Lodge #46), First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 4031 and many other organizations.

He is survived by 3 step-sons: Dennis (Susie), Rog, and Scott; Niece & nephews: Barbara Bartocci, and Jack, Robert & Ronald Lemmon, and many extended family & close friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in 2012.

A memorial service will be held at Hood Mortuary Chapel with full Masonic and Military Honors on Friday, Sep 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
