Debra Lehl passed away at her home in Durango with her parents by her side on December 31, 2018. Debra was born in Hugo, CO August 10, 1980 to Jerry & Shirley Lehl. Debra moved from the Hugo farm to a ranch in Crawford, CO. Debra attended Crawford Middle School & Hotchkiss High School, where she graduated with honors. She then attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, where she also graduated with honors, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Debra made her home in Durango and got her dream job at the Fort Lewis College Registrar’s office, as a Student Services Specialist. Debra was a member of the Durango Choral Society. She loved singing, hiking, snowshoeing, travelling, camping, volunteering & Skyhawk Basketball. Debra’s motto is “Be Kind.” She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert & Maxine Lehl of Englewood, CO and Charles & Nellie Allis of Littleton, CO and her uncle Gary Lehl of Englewood, CO. Debra is survived by her parents Jerry & Shirley Lehl; sister Dayna Carpenter of Montrose, CO; brother Daniel Lehl of Boise Idaho; and nieces Morgan Farmer, Josie Farmer, and Leah Farmer, all of Montrose. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Durango on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. A second service will be held in Montrose at the United Methodist Church on January 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Durango Hospice of Mercy, 1010 Three Springs Blvd., Durango, CO 81301, or Debra Lehl Memorial Scholarship at Fort Lewis College, contact Sandy Jameson Scholarship Manager Fort Lewis College.
