Obituary for
Charlotte Lynn Langford (Larsen)
Charlotte L. Langford, 49, passed away peacefully at her home in Red Mesa, Colo., on July 7, 2013. The third of eight children born to Kent and Carolyn Larsen, Charlotte was born on January 4, 1964, in Pocatello, Idaho, and soon after moved with her family to the Washington, D.C. area. After graduating from Parkdale High in Riverdale, Md., in 1981, she attended Weber State College, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Richard Bret Langford. The two were married in the Washington, D.C. LDS Temple on December 28, 1984. Bret and Charlotte first settled in Ogden, Utah, where Bret began his construction business, and where their first child, Jessica Marie, was born in 1985. In 1986, they moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where they welcomed their first son, Christopher Bret. Seeking to be closer to Charlotte's family, they moved to Woodbine, Md., in 1988, where Spencer Paul (1988) and Andrew Kent (1990) were born. In 1992, they settled in the Durango, Colo., area, where their remaining children were born: Joshua Kincaid (1995), Caitlin Rose (1996), Caleb Young (1998), McKenna Lynn (2000), Kiersten Blair (2002), Sara Lee (2004), Emily Jayne (2006) and Lindsey Anne (2007). A devoted wife and mother, Charlotte managed a thriving household. As Bret's partner in all things, she provided support and inspiration to him in his general contracting business. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Charlotte could often be found providing service to others. In her spare time, Charlotte shared her singing talent at public and religious events, both as a soloist and with her four sisters. After a courageous battle with cancer, Charlotte passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loving family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Bret, and 11 of their 12 children. Sara was stillborn. Charlotte also leaves behind her father, seven brothers and sisters, and four (soon to be five) grandchildren. Charlotte’s memorial service will be held at 6 pm Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Red Mesa LDS Chapel, 6848 Highway 140, Red Mesa, Colo. Prior to the service, an informal reception will begin at 5 pm at the same address. For those interested in making a memorial contribution, donations may be made to the Langford Family Memorial Fund, at Bank of the San Juans.
