Ruth Elaine (Brown) Lambo passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She passed peacefully surrounded by her children.
Ruth was born in Salida, Colorado on June 25, 1922, to Elizabeth (Betty) and Gay Brown. She spent her early years in Castle Valley, just outside Moab, Utah and graduated from Moab High School in 1940.
She married Frank Joseph Lambo on June 14, 1941. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah briefly where their first child, Rita, was born. When Frank was drafted, Ruth and Rita went to live with her parents in Moab until the war was over.
After the war they settled in Dove Creek, Colorado. They had three more daughters there: Vicky, Betty and Anna.
They lived in Farmington, New Mexico from 1958 until 1967. There Ruth gave birth to her last child and only son, Doug.
The family moved back to Ruth's beloved Colorado in 1968. Colorado was always her heart's home.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Frank. She is survived by her five children and eleven grandchildren and 8 great-grand children.
Ruth leaves a legacy of various work experiences as well as volunteer service. She worked in hospitals as a nurse (Moab, Utah) nurses aid and administrative work (Community and Mercy Hospitals - Durango). Her volunteer work was varied: VFW Auxillary, PTA, Durango's Community Thanksgiving Meals and just about everything a friend or neighbor might ask.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 10th at The Vallecito Community Event Center (17252 Co Rd 501, Bayfield, CO 81122) at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to either the La Plata County Humane Society (1111 S. Camino Del Rio, Durango, 81301) or the Hospice of Mercy (1010 Three Springs Blvd., Durango, 81301).
