LaVonne M. Newman

Life-long resident LaVonne M. Newman passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on July 20, 1935, in the Logging Camps in the high timber up north, La Vonne’s life was a tapestry of love, family, and hard work. 

LaVonne was an avid outdoors woman, in her prime, and was dedicated to her family. She was known locally for her Blue Ribbon recipes, crochet work, and photography, while the family enjoyed her fudge.

She is survived by her son, Scott Newman, and life-partner Morty Lechner. In addition she leaves behind a host of relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents Josephine Marie and Lloyd Green

The family invites friends and well-wishers to join them in paying respects during the visitation on Saturday January 27, 2024. The gathering will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Hood Mortuary, 1261E 3rd Ave, Durango, CO 81301, with internment at the Florida Cemetery.
