Obituary for Regina Ann Kurn

Regina Ann Kurn passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, surrounded by family at Mercy Medical Center. She was 60 years old.

Regina is survived by her two sons; Luke and Carson Mulligan, her boyfriend, Dan Gaffney and her siblings; Jeff Ford, Kris Majich, Mike Kurn, Maureen Young, and Joe Kurn. She is preceded in death by her two parents; Naomi and Joseph Kurn, her brother, Patrick Kurn, and her sister, Jessica Ford.

Regina was born December 19, 1955, in sunny Pasadena, CA. She was one of eight children and the eldest child from her mother’s second marriage. She spent her childhood and early years in Pasadena and moved to Durango shortly after her High School graduation. It was at that time that Regina truly found her home. Over the years she would collect a countless number of friends, many of whom would consider her like family. While bartending at the Palace Restaurant she met her husband Joseph Mulligan and later gave birth to her two sons in 1988 and 1989. Her children were her absolute joy.

In 2002, Regina suffered from an aortic dissection. At that time there was much less known about this heart condition. Being the strong willed women she was, Regina defied all odds and continued life for 14 more years while bringing a tremendous amount of happiness and love to her children and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at the Palace Restaurant, December 13, from 3-7pm. Please contact Carson if you have any questions (970)749-2640. All who knew her are encouraged to attend.
