John David Knutson, 79, was born on July 1, 1943, in WaKeeney, Kansas, to Clarence V. and Othelia (Meisner) Knutson and died on July 13, 2022, in Durango, Colorado. He graduated from Trego Community High School in 1961 and joined the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he worked and lived in California, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado. He was a miner for many years and in his later years he took to woodworking, painting and used his creative talents in many different aspects. John also loved to tease and joke with people and had a knack for telling stories.
He married Sharon Ettelson. They later divorced. He was the loving father of two daughters, Audra Elizabeth and Amber Leah.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Othelia Knutson and his sister and brother-in-law, Audrey Ann and Harlen McGinness. He leaves behind his two daughters, Audra Knutson and fiance' Jason Tschimperle, of Arroyo Seco, New Mexico and Amber (Meeshi) Anjali and grandson Aemon Anjali of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by three nieces Terri (Tom) Smiley, Merriam, Kansas, Kathi (Steve) Clavin, Wichita, Kansas and Conni (Terry) Steininger, Salina, Kansas, and two great-nieces and two great-nephews and two great-great nephews and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 o'clock p.m. on Sunday July 24, 2022 at the VFW Durango, Colorado.
