Obituary for
Charles Rudy Kluss
Charles Rudy Kluss, age 86, died on June 22, 2013, after a challenging illness. Charles was born in Denver, Colorado, to George and Emma Kluss on July 26, 1926. He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 36 years; his sister, Joyce Brumley of Bosque Farms, N.M., and her husband, Gerald; a niece, Katherine Darlington, also of Bosque Farms and her husband Kenneth and their children, Emily and Joshua. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two sisters, Eileen and Ruth, and two half-sisters, Velma and Phyllis. A hard worker, Charles joined the Navy at an early age to help support his family, and after serving, worked as a butcher. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden, but will be remembered most for his story-telling, laughter, and good sense of humor. Charles wove colorful stories together, and seemed to remember everything in detail. One never knew how much of his stories were real or fictional, but all were entertaining. A special thanks to those who helped care for Charles during his illness, especially Meg, Andree, the staff at Mercy Hospital, parishioners with St. Columba Church, and those with Meals on Wheels. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at St. Columba Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Meals on Wheels, c/o LPC Senior Services, 2424 Main Avenue, Durango, CO 81301.
