Obituary for
Lucy "Pinky" Kinterknecht
Lucy Kinterknecht, 85, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Aztec, N.M.
Mrs. Kinterknecht was born November 23, 1926, in Bloomfield, N.M., the daughter of Antonio and Mary (Probst) Giacomelli. Known as "Pinky", she moved to Silverton at a very early age. All of the Giacomelli's lived there and so she attended schools and graduated (seven graduating girls in total!) in Silverton. She began waitressing at various restaurants in Silverton. She met and married her husband, Pete, in Silverton. In the early 1960's, they moved down to Durango. After Pete passed away, Pinky began working again, this time at Woolworth's and was also a waitress there for 14 years. Around 1994, Pinky moved to Aztec and it was there where in her retirement that she enjoyed sewing and fellowship with her Methodist church family. She was very fond of reading and enjoyed family time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by Tony McElroy (son) of Aztec, N.M.; Nora McElroy (daughter-in-law) of Aztec, N.M.; Terry Pete Kinterknecht (stepson), Shirley and Russ Kaelin (stepdaughter and her husband) of Winslow, Ariz.; six grandsons, eight great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Jeff Symonds will be officiating. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango.
