Obituary for Donald Lee Kent

Donald L Kent of Durango passed away Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Durango, Colorado from complications of Parkinson’s. He was born March 4, 1935 to William and Elsie Kent in Texhoma, Texas. The family moved to Beulah, Colorado, where he spent his childhood. He enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Wilma Boelz, his high school sweetheart on November 2, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico. They were blessed with 2 daughters. Mr. Kent was employed with The Colorado Department of Transportation in Pueblo, Colorado and in 1975 was transferred to Durango as Electrical Supervisor. He retired in 1992 and after 37 years with the department. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge No. 90 and The Masonic Lodge South Pueblo No. 31. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and golfing. He was a member of the Hillcrest Golf Club for many years and a volunteer at the United Methodist Thrift Shop in Durango. He loved the outdoors and spent time camping and jeeping with family. Don had a great sense of humor and could repair almost anything according to his family. Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie Kent and brother Gary Kent. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Kent of 57 years; daughters, Donalda (Russ) Kroeger and Debra (Sonny) Rochford of Durango; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Durango and graveside services will be held in Beulah, Colorado.
