Obituary for
Curtis E. Kennedy
Durango resident Curtis Eugene Kennedy died Monday, June 4, 2012. He was 56 years old.
Mr. Kennedy was born to Gene and Alice Kennedy on October 7, 1955, in Durango. He grew up in Hesperus, Colorado, graduating from Durango High School in 1974.
In September 1981, Curtis married Tracy L. Haygood in Durango.
Mr. Kennedy was a long-time Measurement Technician for several different natural gas gathering companies. His most recent employer was Red Cedar, where he was employed for 11 years.
His greatest pride and love was for his twin daughters, his wife, and his family. He was a dedicated father and husband, who loved living out his passion for sports through his children. Curtis’ strong faith and church family were also a significant part of his life.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tracy Kennedy, of Durango; his two daughters, Kelly and Jordan Kennedy, of Durango; parents, Gene and Alice Kennedy, of Hesperus; sister, Emily Hanon, of Farmington, N.M.; brother, Randy Kennedy, of Castle Rock, Colo.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Marvel Grange on County Road 134. A dinner will be held after the service. Please bring a potluck dish and a story to share.
