Irene L. Kapp
Irene Louise Kapp died Sunday, June 26, 2011, in Durango, Colo. She was 97.
Mrs. Kapp was born Feb 10, 1914, in Paragould, Ark., daughter of Wilson and Alma Henry. Later she moved to St. Louis, Mo., with her parents. In the 1930s she married Euclid Tabor in St. Louis and the couple had three children.
In 1958 she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., with her second husband, Harold B. Kapp. She relocated to Durango in 1988 with her son Cordell and daughter Georgia.
Mrs. Kapp enjoyed quilting and looking after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved travelling by car and took many road trips with her husband and family. Her family remembers her delicious chicken and dumplings and peanut butter fudge.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and her son Garret Tabor.
She survived by her son Allen Cordell Tabor and daughter Georgia Relaford, both of Durango; sister Argentine Robinson of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter-in-law Deborah Tabor of Boone, N.C.; grandchildren Lesley Ponce of Durango, Becky Savallisch of Glendale, Ariz.; and Cynthia Tabor Miles of North Carolina, and seven great-grandchildren.
A viewing will occur from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Greenmount Cemetery. Roger Haney will be officiating. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery.
