Joyce is survived by her son, Forest Cordova, grandchildren Itzel and Yael, and two sisters, Barbara Schiefelbein and Janet Heuman. Joyce lived in Cortez but was a traveler and had lived in numerous places prior to Cortez. An amazing artist, Joyce’s paintings were displayed in many galleries and she was an artist in residence at various times. Joyce also worked as a graphic designer for a time in Longmont, CO., and at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.
Joyce loved nature, which was featured in her art work beautifully. She loved to hike, climb, mountains, and camp. Joyce traveled to Thailand, Belize, and spent a winter in Yellowstone helping with wolves. Her happiest moments were being in nature, walking her beloved dog Lacy. Lacy is now in a loving home with Joyce’s son Forest. She had many dear friends in Cortez and surrounding area. She will be missed greatly.
