Velbeth H. Jones of Durango, Colorado passed away July 17, 2022. Velbeth named after Grandma Velma and Grandma Elizabeth, was born in Long Beach, California, April 14, 1947. Velbeth spent 31 years in the aerospace industry in Long Beach, California, starting with Douglas Aircraft which later became McDonnel Douglas Aircraft, and later merged with Boeing Aircraft. Graduating from high school in Long Beach, California, Velbeth attended beauty school for 9 months only to decide she hated doing hair. With short hand writing learned in high school she interviewed with Douglas Aircraft in 1972 and was hired because of those skills. At Douglas Aircraft she worked her way up from entry level positions, into accounting and later management. It was the accounting experience that she found a love for numbers and beginning in the early 90's, sold real estate on weekends. In her retirement years she would help financially strapped people develop a financial budget to help them become financially solvent. In 2001 she married her current husband of 21 years, Elliott Jones, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Several years later they married again to renew their vows in Yosemite National Park at Yosemite Falls. They both retired together in 2003 from Southern California moving to Durango, Colorado where they have loved living for the past 19 years. Velbeth is survived by her husband Elliott Jones, her Daughter Heather Nelson and Grandson Hunter Nelson.
