Obituary for Joshua L. Jones

Joshua Lance Jones, known as “Josh” to family and friends, left this world on Saturday, August 6, 2011. He was 19 years old.

Josh was born to Sherry Bayard and Bo Jones on March 28, 1992, in Durango, Colo., and was the youngest of six children. As a child Josh loved camping, which was a hobby that continued into adulthood.

A true “Colorado boy” at heart, Josh loved being in the mountains, fishing and living off the land. According to family and friends, “It wasn’t unusual for Josh to dine on a rabbit he caught for dinner.”

Josh attended Ignacio High School and later went on to receive his GED.

Josh was very social and was happiest when on the go with friends. Mischief seemed to follow him wherever he went, but he had a big heart and loved kids. He was especially proud to be an uncle to his nieces Kameryn and Nana and nephew Parker.

Josh is preceded in death by grandparents Wanda and Harold Jones and grandfather Wayne Bayard.

Josh is survived by his mother Sherry Bayard of Ignacio, father Bruce (Bo) Jones of Ignacio, sister and brother-in-law Krystal and Eddie Edwards of Muskogee, Okla.; brothers Tyson Jones, Jared Jones, Lucas Jones, and Mason Jones, all of Ignacio; grandparents Kay Bayard of South Elgin, Ill., and Joanna (Lovella) Slangal of Nebraska, two nieces, one nephew, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cremation will occur and Josh will be laid to rest in the mountains he loved the most. Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., with a ceremony to follow at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Ignacio, Colo.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Josh Jones Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank.
