Jon Kent Ross was born on August 27, 1936 in Price, Utah, the son of John Franklin and Dorothy E Ross. He passed away on May 2, 2024.
He spent his childhood and early years in Green River, UT where he met and married Georgie N. Hatch on June 11, 1955. In 1968 they moved to Tiffany, CO where they were involved in ranching and farming. Later they moved to Pagosa Springs, CO where they finished raising their 9 children. Around 2001 they moved to Bayfield, CO.
Jon was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a dedicated and faithful husband, father and grandfather who loved his family passionately. He was a natural horseman and loved riding, roping, camping and hunting in the Book Cliffs of UT and the San Juans of CO. He taught his children to love work, to be self-sufficient and take care of themselves, their families and each other. He was a boot and saddle maker and owned and operated Ross Boot and Saddle for 47 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Georgie N. Ross, his parents Frank and Dorothy Ross, a brother Jack Ross, 2 sons – Dirk Ross and Colt Ross, and 4 sons-in-law- Ray Wells, Quinn Haddock, Todd Miller and Gene Carlson. He is survived by daughters Tandra Haddock of Provo, UT & Kheta Wells of Mineral Point, MO. 5 sons, Braden (Chris) Ross of Midland, TX, Kirby (Tammi) Ross of Franktown CO, Troy (Loretta) Ross of Pagosa Springs, CO, Cody (Dawn) Ross of Pagosa Springs, CO and Redo (Barb) Ross of Bayfield, CO.; 2 daughters-in-law Crystal Ross of Ignacio, CO & Jamie Carlson of Loveland, CO.; sister, Dorothy Ann Carter of Roosevelt, Utah; brother, Clark (Jean Henry) Ross of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 44 grandchildren and 121 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bayfield, CO on May 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with the viewing at 9:30 am.
Interment to follow at the Pine River Cemetery.
