John Leroy England

John Leroy England passed away in his home on November 8, 2022 at age 85. He is survived by his 4 children Monty England, Asa England, Mark England and Beth England; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; his siblings Ben England and Donna England Groseclose, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Asa Lee England, Dortha England Smith and Kenneth England.
 
John was born March 7, 1937 in Oklahoma City, OK. His family later moved to Roswell, NM where he played football for Roswell High. While at Roswell High he earned the nickname of Golden Toe. John received a football scholarship offer to the University of Texas but accepted an offer to Texas Tech.
 
John became a successful contractor/builder and built many houses in New Mexico and Texas. He designed and built National Elite Gymnastics in Austin. He also designed and built the cabin in Pagosa Springs, where he was living at the time of his death.
John was loved not only by family but by many friends. John had a very generous nature and was known to assist with many projects for his friends and family.

A memorial service will be held for John at Tinnie Baptist Church (Hwy 70 West milepost 288) in Tinnie, NM on Saturday, December 3, 2022.  Lunch will be served at noon with the memorial following at 2 PM.
