Dorothy Jarrell

Dorothy Louise Jarrell, 92, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango, Colorado. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango and there will be future services at a later date.

Mrs. Jarrell was born February 12, 1919 in Colorado Springs, Colorado the daughter of Robert and Lillian (Odyers) Tomsha. Dorothy attended school and grew up in Colorado Springs. She met her husband there and they were married on November 2, 1936. All of their children were born in Colorado Springs. They moved back and forth from there to Littleton and also had lived 10 years in Texas. In 1979, the Jarrell's moved to the Durango area. They had been married for 74 years. Mrs. Jarrell enjoyed playing cards, gardening, watching cooking shows and spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She was a member of the Animas Valley Grange as well as the Sarah Rebekah Lodge #20.

She is survived by Harry Lee Jarrell (husband) of Durango, CO, Elaine Heikkinen (daughter) of Farmington, NM, Larry Jarrell (son) of Farmington, NM, Linda Partridge (daughter) of Durango, CO, Paul Heikkinen (grandson) of Farmington, NM, Lora Heikkinen (granddaughter) of Farmington, NM, Kelsey Partridge-Lancaster (granddaughter) of Durango, Kyle Partridge (grandson) of Marietta, GA, Ambre Holley (granddaughter), and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons Harry Lee Jarrell and Donny Lee Jarrell, her granddaughter Sarah Heikkinen, and 11 siblings.
