Obituary for Marjorie A. Jackson

Marjorie Ann Jackson died of ovarian cancer Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at her home in Durango. She was 74.

Marjorie was born July 5, 1937, in Bridgeport, Ill., the daughter of Thomas and Helen Doss. She had lived in Durango since 1965. She worked as a nurse's aide at Mercy Medical, Four Corners Health Care Center, and La Plata Community Hospital, and as an LPN at Durango Center.

Family and grandkids mattered most to Marjorie. She enjoyed collecting knickknacks, and she made her own crafts to give away to family and friends as gifts. She loved to travel, especially with her family.

She is preceded in death by her son Mike Brann.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Jackson, of Durango; daughter, Sherry (Richard) Silva, of Roseville, Calif.; son, Tom (Linda) Brann, of La Junta, Colo.; brother, Paul (Sue) Doss of Cottonwood, Ariz.; grandchildren Kalvin, Keith, Jerrid, and Jenifer Brann, Dustin and Joanna Conrad, and Michelle and Nick Church; six great-grandchildren; nieces Nancy (Bob) Harvey of Arizona; and Paula Sue Roberts of Phoenix; nephew, Jim Doss, of Phoenix; several other nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law Ken Canterbury of Ignacio, Chester Jackson of Ignacio, and Jerry Jackson of Durango; and sister-in-law, Carol Jackson, of Durango.

A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2011, at Greenmount Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Powell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society District II - Southwest Colorado, 1800 E. 3rd Ave., Suite 101, Durango, CO 81301.
