Sheryl lost her valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, on Friday the 25th of May. She was a life-long Durango area native, born September 9, 1949.
She was a kind and beautiful soul who touched everyone she knew with love and grace. She attended the old Animas City Elementary School, Miller Jr. High and Durango High School, graduating in 1967. She graduated summa cum laude from Fort Lewis College with a Batchelors of Arts-Humanities Major in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margie L. Kennedy and Joseph J. “Joey” Bartol; her little brother, Richard “Rick” Kennedy; her beloved grandmother, Julia Bartol; her mentor and business partner, Nancy Neal; and way too many friends, family and loved ones to list them all.
She is survived by her life partner and husband of 25+ years, Cris Hyde, her daughters: Andrea Dalla of Durango, CO and Rochelle Dalla of Omaha, NE; her step sons, Dustin Hyde of Grand Junction, CO and Destry Hyde of Tiffany, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bryan and Jessica Dalla-Cundiff, Logan Dalla Blackwell, Kaylee, Mariyah and Lacie Hyde, Netasha MacDonald, Alyssa Fielding and Isabela Hyde.
Throughout her life she successful in many enterprises and always spread love and joy everywhere she went. She realized her lifelong dream of creating a horse ranch with Cris, the love of her life, where she raised horses and many other animals.
She was active in her support of the Allison Grange and the Allison Church. She was a champion for many causes that supported women, education, children, animals and the environment. She loved farm life and had immense love and appreciation for all living things.
We will honor her request of a “Gathering of Friends” celebration with a potluck. We will provide meat-- bring your own beverages and chairs. It will be on Saturday, June 23rd (the weekend after the solstice) from High Noon until 4 pm at the Wildhorse Equestrian Center (the blue barns) at 6203 HWY 151, Ignacio, CO.
