Jacqueline L. "Jay" Hurtado passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Four Corners Health Care Center. She was 81 years old.
Jay was born June 19, 1934, to Elizabeth and Clair Withrow, in Los Angeles, California. She graduated high school in San Bernardino, California in 1951. She met her first husband in school, Ronald White; their marriage was blessed with 3 children and they were later divorced. Jay lived most of her life in San Bernardino and eventually moved to Colorado to be closer to her daughter.
Jay loved to practice and participate in her faith. She was an active member of Episcopal Churches. She loved music of all kinds, had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved animals. Jay was loved and will be missed by many.
She is survived by a daughter: Gail Cross, of Bayfield; son: Brent White of California; grandson: Travis McAnally of Durango; granddaughter: Jill Riley of California; sister: Dell Burke of Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, 3 great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents and former spouse: William "Doc" Hurtado.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Durango, Colorado.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the La Plata County Humane Society.
