Obituary for Jean L. Howlett

Jean L. Howlett, a resident of Bayfield, died Tuesday May 24, 2011, in Durango, while surrounded by family. She was 79.

Mrs. Howlett was born to George and Jennie Irwin Parrish in Minneapolis, Minn., on January 15, 1932. She graduated from South High School in Minneapolis June 1949, and married Don Howlett January 1955.

Jean was happiest being with her family and her dog Baby Girl, or just enjoying a nice sunny day at the softball field in earlier years.

Mrs. Howlett is preceded in death by her husband, Don Howlett, and grandson, Bryan Howlett.

She is survived by her son, Jim Howlett of Durango; daughter, Jennie Howlett of Alaska; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Tracey Howlett of N.M.; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Gary Cox of N.M.; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy (Margaret) and Eric Copeland of Durango; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Hannelore Howlett of Bayfield; grandchildren, Colt Cox of Durango; Kassie and husband Bryan Blount of Durango; Christopher and wife Amanda Howlett of Durango; Amber Howlett of Bayfield; Justin Howlett of New Mexico; Stacey Stevens of Durango; Michelle and husband Mike Mills of Ariziona; Heather and Allison Cox of N.M.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Jean (Mom) will be greatly missed by all, and will be in our hearts forever.

Cremation will occur. A celebration of Jean’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the La Plata County Humane Society, 1111 South Camino Del Rio, Durango, CO 81303.
