Patrick David Dean Howard
Patrick David Dean Howard, 55, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Recitation of the Rosary will be said on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. and a Memorial Mass will be held also on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., both to take place at St. Ignatius Church in Ignacio, Colo. Mr. Howard was born October 23, 1957, in Englewood, Calif., the son of Joseph and Margaret Howard. Patrick was raised and grew up in Southern California where he also attended El Camino College in Torrence, Calif. He worked at various facilities as a computer programmer, not only in Los Angeles, but in Denver and the Las Vegas, Nev. In 1999, he met his future wife, Freda Kay Pinnecoose, online and in 2004 moved to Colorado. They were married January 6, 2007, in Las Vegas. They both enjoyed attending sporting events, concerts and traveling. When Mr. Howard moved to Ignacio, he worked a short time for Wal-Mart and then he worked with Peaceful Spirit in Ignacio for 3 years as a Residential Attendant then a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. He was an avid LA Dodgers and Anaheim Angels baseball fan, attending many, many games at Dodgers' Stadium and his love for the Dodgers continued after he moved to Colorado. He also enjoyed fishing at Lake Isabella in California, a fan of the L.A. Kings and he downloaded and listened to lots of music. He was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in late January of 2007. In March of 2012 he moved to Los Angeles, where he participated in a clinical trial treatment at the Samuel Oschin Cancer Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He fought the cancer as hard as he could and with the love of this wife, Freda, he never gave up but throughout it all, he always had a caring spirit about him and would keep everyone laughing with his jokes and humor. He was a wonderful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews and they fondly called him, "Patrick Star." He is survived by his wife, Freda Kay Pinnecoose, of Ignacio; Tracy Hemmingway (sister) of Lancaster, Calif., Ruth and Carl Maroney (aunt and uncle) of Los Angeles, mother and father- in-laws, Georgia McKinley and Sam Pinnecoose of Ignacio; sisters and brother-in-laws Samantha Pinnecoose of Durango, Vanessa and Mark Torres, Felicia McKinley-Voit, and Clarence Pinnecoose all of Ignacio; nieces Shelenia Porambo and Raelynn Torres of Ignacio, and Toph and Tylee Pinnecoose of Bayfield; nephew Gabriel Pinnecoose of Bayfield, and great-niece and nephew Jaela and Kylan Velasco also of Ignacio, and nieces, nephews, and cousins in Southern California. He was preceded in death by his parents.
